Frequently Asked Questions

My office doesn't have a waiting room. It meets you wherever you are.

I provide virtual therapy for clients across New York, Connecticut, and Colorado, so support is accessible wherever life happens.

Reach out via email (elisa@teleidoscopetherapy.com) so we can select an initial appointment time that fits your life.

A free consultation is a brief, no-obligation conversation where you can learn more about me and my approach before deciding whether to begin therapy.

It's an opportunity to discuss what brings you to therapy, ask questions about my experience, availability, and fees, and determine whether I'd be a good fit for your needs.

Most individual therapy sessions are 45 minutes, which gives us ample time for meaningful reflection and growth. If you prefer a slower pace, are working through more complex concerns, or simply want additional space to process and explore, 60-minute sessions are also available.

For couples, sessions are usually 75 minutes. If needed, 60-minute sessions are also possible.

Together, we can determine the session length that best supports your needs and therapeutic goals.

Healing doesn't keep business hours. I offer daytime, evening, and select weekend appointments so therapy can fit into your life, not compete with it.

I work with adults (18+) of all genders and identity statuses, both individuals and couples.

Much of my work centers on high-achieving women of color, and on BIPOC and intercultural couples working through questions of identity, culture, and power.

Starting therapy can feel like a big step, and it's completely normal to feel a mix of emotions before your first appointment.

Our initial session is designed to be a comfortable, collaborative conversation where you can share as much or as little as feels right. We'll talk about what's bringing you to therapy, what you've been experiencing, and what you hope will be different in your life.

I'll ask questions to better understand your story, your relationships, and any challenges you're facing, but there's no expectation that you have everything figured out or know exactly where to begin. We can move at a pace that feels comfortable for you.

You'll also have the opportunity to ask questions about my approach, the therapy process, or anything else that's on your mind. Together, we'll begin identifying your goals and discuss how we can work toward them in a way that feels meaningful and supportive.

My hope is that you'll leave our first session feeling heard, understood, and with a better sense of whether we're a good fit to work together.

My approach to therapy is integrative, meaning I tailor treatment to each client's unique needs, goals, and strengths rather than relying on a one-size-fits-all model.

At the foundation of my work is a psychodynamic approach, which explores how past experiences, relationships, and unconscious patterns shape your current thoughts, emotions, and behaviors.

I also draw heavily from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) to help you develop greater psychological flexibility, connect with your values, and build a more meaningful life, even in the presence of difficult emotions.

When appropriate, I incorporate skills and strategies from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) to help you manage anxiety, regulate emotions, improve coping skills, and create lasting behavioral change.

For couples, I integrate Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) and Gottman Method principles to strengthen communication, deepen emotional connection, and help partners move through conflict in healthier, more connected ways.

Above all, I believe the therapeutic relationship is one of the most important factors in successful therapy. My goal is to create a collaborative, supportive space where you feel understood, challenged, and encouraged to move in meaningful ways toward the life you're wanting to build.

I'm a Licensed Clinical Psychologist (PhD) and Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) supporting residents of New York State. I'm also a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) supporting residents of Connecticut and Colorado. Additionally, I'm a Nationally Certified Counselor (NCC) and a Board Certified Tele-Mental Health Provider (BT-TMC).

My PhD in clinical psychology is from the City College of New York, CUNY, and I completed my predoctoral internship at Montefiore / Einstein on the combined child, adolescent, and adult track. Prior to that, I earned my Master of Education in Psychological Counseling from Teachers College, Columbia University, where I obtained my license in mental health counseling before completing my doctorate.

Clinically, I'm passionate about providing relational, culturally-sensitive, inclusive, and trauma-informed care to the individuals and communities I serve. Over the course of my training and career, I've built expertise in working with individuals in the perinatal period, couples, and those from BIPOC and LGBTQIA+ communities.
